Why go to Egypt? "It's completely unique from western culture...I wanted to understand the gap between the east and west," says Kurt Hagemann, a Psychology and Globalization Studies double major. So how did he do that?
Aside from the requisite camel rides through the Great Pyramids, Kurt volunteered to tutor refugees from northern Africa; played card games with Palestinians on the West Bank; and signed up to play improv jazz at a club in Cairo which Kurt calls "the Blue Note of New York City in Cairo." These may not have initially been on Kurt Hagemann's itinerary, but they definitely rank as some of his most meaningful experiences during his semester in Cairo. back
