2011 Distinguished Alumni Award - David S. O'Bryon '72

David S. O'Bryon '72
President and CEO, O'Bryon and Company
In 1970, as campuses across the nation became divided over the issues of the day, David S. O'Bryon '72 helped create Symposium '70, an initiative that brought speakers from the national spotlight to Gettysburg for thoughtful conversation over current events and policies. A member of Phi Gamma Delta, O'Bryon also served as a class senator, dorm counselor, and chair of the Student Conduct Review Board, managing those responsibilities while majoring in political science and competing in wrestling and football.
O'Bryon has remained a loyal and valued volunteer with the College and his fraternity. Upon graduation he served on the campaign and legislative staffs of U.S. Congressman Gilbert Gude (R-MD) and later on the staff of his successor, while earning his law degree at the Potomac School of Law. After many years as a lobbyist on Capitol Hill, he entered the field of association management and government relations. Today, as founder and president of O'Bryon and Company, he focuses on association management and public affairs, especially related to complementary and alternative health care and chiropractics.
O'Bryon and his wife Margaret have two children, Elisabeth and David. In 1998, his sister, Laurie O'Bryon '82 received the Distinguished Alumni Award in recognition for her international humanitarian efforts.
