Distinguished Alumni Awards - Linda Eckard Vilardo
Class of 1979
Linda has applied her Gettysburg College degree and her political science major to excellent effect, pursuing a Diploma in Soviet Studies from the University of Glasgow in Scotland before earning a Juris Doctor degree from the National Law Center at George Washington University. As an extension of her distinguished law career, she has risen to become the chief administrative officer of Radio One, Inc. the nation's seventh largest radio broadcasting company and the largest serving African-American and urban listeners.
Admitted to the Federal Communication Bar Association, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Bar of the United States Supreme Court, Vilardo specialized in communications law through much of her distinguished law career. Her responsibilities for the legal, human resources, and engineering functions at Radio One call upon her strengths in strategic planning, negotiation, and management. Her careful negotiation of business exceeding $2.3 billion for Radio One resulted in our induction into the Hall of Fame of the Media Minority Telecommunications Council in 2005.
