Mission

The Mission of the Gettysburg Phonathon:

The Phonathon program within the Development and Alumni Relations Division helps foster relationships with alumni, family and friends of Gettysburg College.  The Phonathon strives to maximize Gettysburg's annual revenue through increasing participation by alumni, parents, faculty, staff and friends.  Ultimately, the Phonathon works to increase the overall gift support for the College over the long term.

Additionally, we challenge ourselves to reach a greater amount of our 25,000 plus alumni each year.  Each year we work to include more participation in the lasting Gettysburg College Experience.

4 Purposes of the Phonathon

  • Update the College's records, including phone numbers, addresses, career changes, marital status, etc.
  • Inform alumni, parents, and friends of current campus happenings and events.
  • Convey Information from alumni, parents, and friends - Bring praises, thoughts, or concerns to the appropriate person or office.
  • Solicit funds from alumni, parents, and friends of Gettysburg College for the Gettysburg Fund.

Why our Callers Call:

In order for the College to keep their records updated and to gather other important information from our constituencies, the student callers provide that ability.  Additionally, the students can give people on the other end of the phone a great perspective of what life is currently like on campus and answer any questions first hand.  More importantly though, our callers call because they each care about the College and their education and are excited at the opportunity to encourage others to give so that they can continue to receive and excellent education and so can future students.  Through each caller's first-hand experiences, they can bring people back on campus through the phone.
