The granite Benefactors Wall near Glatfelter Lodge is a permanent monument to the prominence of philanthropy at Gettysburg College. The names inscribed represent legacy donors who have offered gifts of one million dollars or more to the institution.

On October 12, 2011, President Janet Morgan Riggs '77 and members of the Gettysburg College Woman's League gathered to celebrate the organization's 100th anniversary. Over the years, the League has contributed $1 million dollars in support of Gettysburg College. They have provided an endowed scholarship fund, supported building renovations, and aided in funding equipment for the College's music department. The Woman's League of Gettysburg College is the 39th addition to the Benefactors Wall.

On May 6, 2011, President Janet Morgan Riggs '77 and members of the College community gathered at the Benefactors Wall to recognize the generosity ofSotaro Ishii and Family. The strength of the College's Asian Studies department, including Japanese Studies and language programs is rooted in the vision and philanthropy of Mr. Ishii. The Ishii Family name is the 38th to be engraved on the Benefactors Wall.
Mr. Ishii served as a College Trustee since 1999 and was named Trustee Emeritus by the Board at its May meeting.

On October 1, 2010, President Janet Morgan Riggs '77 and Chair of the Board of Trustees Bob Duelks '77 welcomed friends and family of Bob Garthwait, Jr. '82 to the Benefactors Wall to celebrate the visionary philanthropy of the Garthwait Family. The Garthwait Family name is the 37th to be engraved on the Benefactors Wall.
Thanks to a significant gift from Robert Garthwait Jr. '82, Gettysburg College has established the Garthwait Leadership Center (GLC). The GLC enables students and alumni to develop leadership skills by providing knowledge, opportunities, and experiences.
Robert Garthwait, Jr. '82 is a trustee of the College and CEO of Cly-Del Manufacturing in Waterbury, Conn.

On April 30, 2010, members of the College community gathered at the Benefactors Wall to recognize the generosity of Robert A. Ortenzio '79. A Gettysburg alumnus and former All-American wrestler, Mr. Ortenzio pledged a total of $3-million to support the construction of the Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Fitness.
Robert A. Ortenzio was the 36th addition to the Benefactors Wall. In recognition of their extraordinary generosity, the Center's fitness area and lobby have been named in honor of Robert and Angela Ortenzio.

On September 26, 2008, President Janet Morgan Riggs '77 welcomed Kirchhoff family members, friends, and the Gettysburg College community to the Benefactors Wall Dedication to recognize the inspirational generosity of William T. '63 and Jean (Cleveland) '64 Kirchhoff P′86. As members of the Cupola and 1832 Societies, Bill and Jean have supported academic programs, building projects, faculty development and the College's Athletic programs over the years.
