Center for Athletics, Fitness, and Recreation Dedication

On April 30, 2010, The Center for Athletics, Recreation and Fitness was formally dedicated by President Janet Morgan Riggs '77. Donors as well as college and community members enjoyed touring the new 55,000-square-foot sleek building which connects to the west side of Gettysburg College's Bream/Wright/Hauser athletic facility.

Among many generous supporters were lead donors John Jaeger '65 who sponsored the Climbing Wall, Trustee Bob Garthwait '82 and family who sponsored the Gettysburg College Bullets Pool, and Bob '79 and Angela Ortenzio whose gifts sponsored the Lobby and the Fitness Center. "I made my initial gift for the Center because athletics was an important part of my experience at Gettysburg. When I visited in December, I saw how well it connects the entire college community, and I wanted to recognize that in a meaningful way," said Ortenzio. He was an All-American wrestler for the Bullets and was inducted into the Gettysburg College Hall of Athletic Honor.
