Gettysburg moves to 5-0 in Conference play
After coming off their worst weekend in sometime in the IUP tournament, and collecting no wins, Gettysburg wanted to hit the ice and get back to their winning ways. The Bullets would have to do so on the road first against the MDCHA team American University. Last season was American's first year in the league, and their program continues to develop and mature in the MDCHA. Gettysburg did not want to take this game lightly as every league game is important.
Gettysburg would strike first as Sophomore Mark Bouchard buried a rebound in front of the American netminder. Minutes later on the powerplay, Senior Luke Archambault would give the Bullets a two goal lead with a slapshot from the slot. Gettysburg would continue pile it on as Bouchard would net his second of the game. Rounding out the first period was another powerplay goal, this time from Junior Phil Deyette, and the Bullets went in to the first intermission up 4-0.
In the second Gettysburg would get too comfortable and would allow American to get back in to the game with three goals in the second period. But getting two of the goals back, Gettysburg would end the second period up by three goals as Archambault and Junior Dave Frascarelli scored.
Gettysburg knew they were not out of the water yet, especially when American scored the first goal of the period. But the Bullets would stay strong and add four more goals to end the game 10-4. Deyette, Frascarelli, Bouchard netted his hatrick, and Senior Garrett Gaydosh would complete the scoring for the Bullets.
Gburg had to travel the next night to Baltimore, MD to face off against Johns Hopkins. Gettysburg knew Hopkins was struggling this season, however, the Bullets would once again have a short bench. But the bench was not short enough as everyone seemed to score some goals for the Bullets on this night. Gettysburg would roll past Johns Hopkins 16-2. Deyette had four on the night, Archambault scored two, Gaydosh had two, freshman Cory Jackmuff and Matt Simeoni each netted two, and freshman Will Brinks netted his first collegiate hat trick of the season. Gettysburg now takes a week off, and will be back to the MDCHA with two league games against the newest teams of Alvernia and Bucknell. The first is against Alvernia at York ice arena, who Gettysburg beat earlier in the year, but this will be a different game as the Crusaders now have a bunch of wins under their belt. Come out and support the Bullets.
