Gburg Blanks a Feisty Mount St. Mary's

With the election upon us, the country will make a decision to choose the next president of the United States. The tensions between the two parties are mounting and will culminate on Tuesday. Even among the Gettysburg college campus, students and administration are choosing sides in healthy debate. However, sometimes these debates turn in to frustration and for the Gettysburg hockey players a good release of that frustration is against their opponents. They did just that this past weekend with an onslaught of goals against Johns Hopkins and Mount St. Mary's.

The Bullets started right off the first faceoff against the Mount. It was newcomer Kevin Kearns who received a pass from junior Jake Asplundh, and scored less than a minute in to the game. From there on out it was all Gettysburg. Not only were they able to capitalize 11 times but senior goaltender Cory Waldron got his first shutout in three years.

Leading the way for the Bullets was junior Ryan Flanagan with a hatrick. Sophomores Matt Simeoni and Cory Jackmuff each added two goals. Rounding out the scoring for the Bullets was freshmen Jon O'Hara and Graham Harkins.

Gettysburg would like to thank their fans that made the short trip down to Frederick MD to watch the Bullets move to 4-0 in the MDCHA, and 7-0 overall. The Bullets get a week off now to regroup and concentrate on their studies. When they return they will face their toughest tests so far this year against St. Vincent out of Pittsburgh and MDCHA rival Alvernia. Both games are played at the York Ice arena and we hope to see everyone there.
