Fitness
The Office of Campus Recreation is responsible for the management and operation of the Eddie Plank Fitness Room & Gymnasium and the Bream Wright Hauser Weight Room. The Division of Athletics is responsible for the College Union Building Pool, all other activity areas in the Bream Wright Hauser Building, and the majority of all Outdoor Field Space.
| Plank Fitness Room This is the home of your cardiovascular needs with the benefit of selectorized weight machines and dumbbells, all in one. The center houses treadmills, elliptical machines, bicycles (upright and recumbent), step machines, a rowing machine, and a series of Life Fitness and Paramount selectorized weight machines, for your workout needs. |

BWH Weight Room This room houses the majority of the free weight machines which include flat benches, preacher curl benches and power racks. The room also has Nautilus selectorized machines. |

Who is eligible to use the Campus Recreation Facilities and Programs?
Current Full-Time Students: All current students may gain access into the fitness and weight rooms by presenting a valid student ID, at all times.
Current Full-Time and Part-Time Employees: As an employee of Gettysburg College, you gain access to all campus Recreation facilities and programs free of charge, with with the presentation of your personnel ID card.
Retirees/Alumni: As a retiree and/or alumni you are welcome to use the facilities but first must obtain a Fitness Pass from the Office of Campus Recreation at (717) 337-6322.
Children or dependants of Employees: Children or dependants under the age of 17, may use the facilities only when accompanied by an employee or currently enrolled student. Dependents over 17 may use their Gettysburg College Dependent ID card to gain access to fitness facilities.
Guests: Invited guests are only allowed to participate with prior approval from the Office of Campus Recreation (717) 337-6322.
What are the Facility Rules and Regulations?
Plank Fitness Room and BWH Weight Room:
- College ID required for access.
- Workout clothes required (shirts must be worn).
- Closed end shoes must be worn at all times (no sandals or bare feet).
- Return all weights to racks.
- A qualified spotter is required when using free weights.
- Use collars if necessary.
- Weights and equipment are never to be removed from the areas.
- Report any malfunctions to supervisor, attendant or instructor.
- No food, drink or alcohol allowed.
- No tobacco of any kind.
- No pets allowed except those assisting disabled individuals.
Important Additional Information
All activity is at the participant's own risk.The Campus Recreation Department reserves the right to limit the number of invited guest, request identification of anyone at anytime, limit the use of the facilities and hours of operations, and request those exhibiting inappropriate behavior to leave immediately.
