After Gettysburg

The world you'll graduate into is a world of change, and a Gettysburg liberal arts education is one of the best ways to prepare yourself for it. At Gettysburg you learn to think about ideas, problems, solutions, the way things are, and the way things should be. You learn how to confront a problem, explore all angles, and work toward a solution. You learn to communicate clearly and persuasively.

As these skills develop, a Gettysburg education gives you countless opportunities to put them to use, applying classroom theory to hands-on practice. Learning what is great, but it's not enough. At Gettysburg you'll also learn how.

You graduate with in-depth understanding of your major field(s), with a breadth of knowledge that helps you connect different fields of study, and with practical skills to put your learning into action. That adds up to great preparation for your career, and for everything else you'll do in life.

In a typical year, about 95 percent of the graduating class will be employed or will be in graduate or professional school within one year of graduating. On average, about 20 percent of graduates immediately pursue further education, and about 75 percent pursue careers. Within five years, more than half of Gettysburg alumni will earn a graduate or professional degree, attending many leading universities in the U.S. and abroad.

Nothing underscores the strength of a Gettysburg education more powerfully than the lives of our graduates. They have gone on to achieve personal fulfillment and career distinction in just about every walk of life imaginable.
