President Lincoln's Cottage on C-SPAN
Saturday, September 6th
at 8:00pm
C-SPAN will air a two hour program devoted to President Lincoln's Cottage.
This program will present the first high definition footage taken at the Cottage and will include a never-before-filmed panorama shot from the top of the tower adjacent to the Cottage. Historians Matthew Pinsker, Edna Greene Medford and Frank Milligan (Director of President Lincoln's Cottage) will discuss the Lincoln's life at the Soldiers' Home, the momentous decisions made there and Lincoln's daily commute through Civil War Washington.
Gettysburg History Gar Building Open for Tours
The Historic GAR Hall, located at 53 E. Middle Street in Gettysburg will be hosting "Tours" throughout the Fall months.
The tour dates are as follows: Sat Sept. 13--1:00, Sun Sept 14-12:00, Sat Sept 20-1:00 (bean soup sale), Sun Sept 21-3:00, Sat Sept 27-1:00, Sun Sept 28-12:00, Sat Oct 4-11:00.

The Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania, The National Park Service and Gettysburg College are delighted to announce that the Dedication Day Speaker for November 19, 2008 will be Ken Burns. 2008 Robert Fortenbaugh Lecture
Catherine Clinton will deliver the Annual Fortenbaugh Lecture for 2008. The title of her lecture will be The Tears of a President: Lincoln, Empathy and Leadership. To learn more about her life and accomplishements click here.

CWI at Gettysburg: Act 48 Provider
The Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College was recently approved as an Act 48 Continuing Professional Education Provider through the Division of Professional Development, Bureau of Teaching and Learning Support. Additional information will be posted as it becomes available.
The Journey Through Hallowed Ground
The House of Representatives joined the U.S. Senate in passing legislation to designate the Journey Through Hallowed Ground a National Heritage Area. This Act of Congress recognizes the unparalleled cultural, historic and scenic resources within the entire Journey Through Hallowed Ground corridor and the critically important work of the 150 Partners within the Journey Through Hallowed Ground Partnership. This honor would not have been possible without the leadership of Congressman Wolf, Senator Warner, and the pro bono services of Akin Gump. 2008 Lincoln Prize Awarded on April 1
The 2008 Lincoln Prize was awarded at the Yale Club in New York City on April 1. It is shared by two outstanding authors. James Oakes, a professor at City University of New York, for his book The Radical and the Republican: Frederick Douglass, Abraham Lincoln, and the Triumph of Anticslavery Politics (W. W. Norton) and Elizabeth Brown Pryor, diplomat and historian, for her book Reading the Man: A Portrait of Robert E. Lee Thorugh His Private Letters (Viking).
