GETTYSBURG SEMESTER SCHOLARSHIPS
The Peter Jay Sharp Fellowships
The Peter Jay Sharp Foundation of New York City was established in 1984 to fund programs in education and the arts. The two Peter Jay Sharp Fellowships, valued at $17,500 each, pay a substantial portion of the costs for the Gettysburg Semester. These fellowships are available to applicants who have a record of academic distinction, a commitment to Civil War Era Studies, and the potential for genuine advancement as a scholar from the experience of a term in Gettysburg. Although they are not need-based, first consideration will generally be given to accepted students who are unable, from their own resources or the transfer of insufficient financial-aid funds from their home school, to completely meet the tuition expenses of the Gettysburg Semester. Applicants to the Gettysburg Semester should indicate in an attached letter whether they wish to be considered for the Sharp Fellowships.

Dr. John M. Templeton, Jr., of Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, has graciously provided funding up to $10,000 towards tuition for a student accepted into the Gettysburg Semester for 2006, 2007 and 2008. The Templeton scholarship is available to Gettysburg Semester student with demonstrated financial need, a record of academic distinction and a commitment to Civil War Era Studies. Students wishing to be considered for the Templeton scholarship should attach a letter to their application to the Gettysburg Semester, indicating their interest in being considered and the circumstances under which the award of the Templeton scholarship would be especially desirable.
The Peter A. Benoliel Scholarship
Mr. Peter A. Benoliel, of St. Davids, Pennsylvania, has kindly committed a scholarship of $5,000 for 2006, 2007 and 2008 to the Gettysburg Semester to assist students with demonstrated financial need and, if possible, an interest in performing with the College's musical ensembles while in residence with the Gettysburg Semester.
