Research Paper Consultations
What is a Research Project Consultation?
A Research Project Consultation (or RPC) is your chance to have an in-depth discussion with a research expert. We'll show you the tricks and tools that will lead to successful research - and hopefully, an A on your research paper! (Sorry, you still have to write the paper yourself...)
How is an RPC different from the help I always get at the Reference Desk?
You can always get personalized assistance at the Reference Desk, and you can drop by anytime we're open. We're open 58 hours/week - Monday-Thursday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm, Friday 9:00 am - 3:00 pm, and Sunday-Thursday 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
An RPC is a more in-depth meeting with a librarian. The librarian knows your topic ahead of time, so she or he can prepare for your visit. Also, you won't be interrupted during an RPC, because you have the librarian all to yourself.
Great, what do I have to do?
Stop by the Reference Desk (main floor of the library) and talk with a Reference Librarian. We'll discuss your project and decide if you're ready for an RPC.
- If you haven't started your research yet, the Reference Librarian will get you started right away - no waiting.
- If you have started your research and don't know where to turn next, we'll schedule an in-depth RPC with you and a librarian.
In order to give you the best possible service, the librarians need at least 48 hours advance notice to prepare an RPC. Sorry, weekends don't count!
RPCs are offered throughout the semester. Ask for more information at the Reference Desk or call 337-6600.
