What we do
The Cataloging Department is responsible for providing patron access, through the online library catalog, to the materials held by Musselman Library. This is accomplished by:
- Verifying or creating bibliographic records for books, video recordings, sound recordings, software, maps, music scores, electronic resources, and other types of library materials in MUSCAT, the library's online catalog
- Assigning subject headings and call numbers
- Labeling and processing of materials as needed
- Maintaining the accuracy of the information contained in the online catalog
- Providing minor in-house repair of damaged materials
- Offering rush cataloging and processing for high demand academic materials
- Determining useful metadata for image collections and digital projects
