Dr. Smoke (1903-1970) taught philosophy at Gettysburg College in 1927-1929. He switched to psychology and taught at Juniata College before returning to Gettysburg in 1946, chairing the department he founded until his death. His wife was Lillian Smoke, college librarian from 1959 to 1974.
