Fortenbaugh Exhibits Internship

The Exhibits and Programs Committee of Musselman Library invites Gettysburg College students to submit applications for the summer Esther Kenyon Fortenbaugh Internship in Exhibits. The internship is open to students in any major and offers an opportunity to learn firsthand about planning and implementing exhibits in the library. Students considering a career in librarianship or information science, museum studies, or art and design are encouraged to apply.

Exhibits and programs are central to Musselman Library's mission to create learning opportunities which encourage critical thinking, stimulate curiosity, and enliven the imagination. Exhibits invite learners to interact with Library collections and related materials, and highlight connections between the Library and the College's learning communities. They also reflect the Library's role as an intellectual and cultural center of campus.

The Fortenbaugh Exhibits Intern will be involved in conducting primary and secondary research related to exhibits; learning exhibit techniques; mounting an exhibit; assisting in curatorial duties; and creating promotional materials. The intern will work 35 hours per week for a period of 6 weeks during the summer. The internship carries a stipend of $8.00 per hour.

Please be specific about why you would like to be an exhibits intern.
