Heads - Seeing Past the Veil

Heads – Seeing Past the Veil

September 2014 - May 2015
Musselman Library’s Apse

Created for her 2014 Capstone Art Senior Project, Danielle Janela’s exhibit Heads – Seeing Past the Veil is best described in the statement accompanying her work: One’s physical appearance acts as a veil that can conceal the most intimate and interesting part of a person: their mind. My work invites viewers to see past this veil and take the phrase “don’t judge a book by its cover” to a new extreme.

A reconfiguration of Janela’s collection of colorful and diverse mannequin heads is on loan and displayed on the lintel high above Musselman Library’s Apse.
