Gettysburg College’s gay-straight alliance will host Allies Week Feb. 27-March 3. "ALLies has worked hard since the end of the fall semester to put this week together,” said Adrienne Ellis ’14, ALLies vice president. “We hope that it helps bring awareness to LGBTQA issues on campus, as well as provide beneficial and fun events to all students and faculty."
Numerous activities and events are planned:
A sexuality and gender identity panel discussion will be held in Science Center 200 Monday, Feb. 27. Beginning at 7 p.m., student speakers will share their experiences as members of the LGBT community on campus.
Safe Zone training will take place Tuesday, Feb. 28 in CUB 260. Starting at 7 p.m., attendees will learn how to be an ally to students and faculty, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Show your support for diversity on campus and attend this training. Please RSVP to Adrienne Ellis ’14: elliad02@gettysburg.edu.On Wednesday, Feb. 29, Dale Smith will perform “Jesus Phreak,” a one-man comedy show that describes what it’s like to be a gay Christian. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the Junction.
Hang out with members of Gettysburg College’s ALLies on Thursday, March 1 at the Attic. Make rainbow friendship bracelets, watch “Glee,” and enjoy light refreshments from 8 p.m. to midnight at this Attic Weeknight event, co-sponsored by CAB.
The Allies House (239 Carlisle Street) will host a movie and game night Friday, March 2 beginning at 7 p.m. Join house residents for a relaxed evening with new and old friends.A Lady Gaga-themed dance party will be held Saturday, March 3 to conclude Allies Week. Come to this event to celebrate being yourself and to recognize the message from Gaga's single "Born This Way" about loving who you are. Dress as Lady Gaga and get ready for an evening filled with food, fun, and dancing beginning at 9 p.m. at the Attic!
