Evening Sun article covers 10K race to benefit Office of Experiential Education

The Hanover Evening Sun featured a Nov. 17 article on the Twisted Turkey Trail Tussle, a 10K race that raises money to benefit the Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve and the Gettysburg College Office of Experiential Education.

From the Evening Sun:

When Todd Jones, who turns 50 years old next week, was 5, he nearly drowned in a pond at the Strawberry Hill Nature Preserve.

On Saturday, Jones, a professor of philosophy for the past 20 years at the University of Nevada Las Vegas, returned to the site and, in a way, conquered the demon.

A runner who won the Blue Mountain League cross country championship for Gettysburg High in 1978, Jones rounded that pond in the homestretch en route to victory in the third annual Twisted Turkey Trail Tussle's 10-kilometer run.

"It was a little scary to see the pond again," Jones said, saying he had wandered a slope into it as a child. "But it was welcome today to come back and see it because I was almost done."
