Advancing Science, a science outreach program based out of Gettysburg College, was recently featured in a Chambersburg Public Opinion article.
From Chambersburg Public Opinion:
Students in Drue Hoffman's science classes completed two college-level labs in the past two weeks.
Neither the lab, nor the equipment, would've been available to seventh-graders without the assistance of an outside organization.
Advancing Science - a science outreach program based out of Gettysburg College - makes about 30,000 student contacts a year from kindergarten to 12th grade in the region.
"I told the kids they're doing the 2012 version of the lab I did in high school," said Hoffman. "We took a jar of water and baking soda. We put leaves in it and captured the bubbles coming up into a test tube. Look at how much oxygen we made."
Hoffman said his experiment as a student was much more low-tech.
