College mentioned as viewing location for fireworks in local media

Gettysburg College was mentioned as a viewing location for the July 3 Gettysburg fireworks in both the Hanover Evening Sun and York Daily Record.

A parade will tie up Wednesday evening traffic prior to fireworks as Gettysburg continues its 150th anniversary celebration of the Civil War battle.

Aerial fireworks will be launched at 10 p.m. Wednesday from Gettysburg College near Mummasburg Road and will be visible throughout the borough, including the Peace Light area. Limited public parking is available on campus in the lots near Musselman Stadium at West Lincoln and Constitution avenues.A prime viewing location is on the grassy area between the college athletic complex and dining center along West Lincoln Avenue.

The parade begins to form at 5 p.m. in the Gettysburg Middle School parking lot and will start at 7 p.m. The parade moves from Liberty Street to Middle Street to Baltimore Street to Steinwehr Avenue. It is to take about a half hour.

The parade celebrates Independence Day and Adams County. Participants include fife and drum corps, school bands and re-enactors.
