College mentioned in Richmond Times Dispatch article on tourism in Gettysburg

Gettysburg College was mentioned in a July 5 Richmind Times Dispatch article about tourism in town.

From the Times Dispatch:

In 1863, Gettysburg was a carriage-making town of about 2,400, the hub of Adams County and a prominent railroad stop boasting Gettysburg College and Lutheran Theological Seminary.

However, it was the convergence of several key roads at Gettysburg that made it the battleground, as well as the Union army’s rapid pursuit of Gen. Robert E. Lee’s troops into Pennsylvania, said National Parks Service Ranger Bert Dunkerly, who works at the Richmond National Battlefield Park but was called up to Gettysburg this week to provide extra manpower for the sesquicentennial.
