Prof. Allen Guelzo was on WHHY's RadioTimes with Marty Moss-Coane on July 9 to talk about his book Gettysburg: The Last Invasion.
The Civil War re-enactors have gone home after reliving the 3 days of the Battle of Gettysburg that took place 150 years ago this month. There were more than 40 thousand casualties from both the North and the South …the bloodiest of all the battles in that war. While the Union defeated the army of Robert E Lee, the fighting lasted for 21 more months until Lee surrendered in April 1865. ALLEN GUELZO is Director of Civil War Studies at Gettysburg College and knows the area’s fields, ridges and woods. He’s the author of a new book, Gettysburg: The Last Invasion about the politics, personalities, mistakes and good luck that created the greatest battle of the Civil War. He’s our guest today as we mark the anniversary of that historic battle.
