The film by Jake Boritt also features use of helicopter-mounted cameras, motion control time-lapse cinematography, and 3D animated maps. It is narrated by actor Steven Lang, who played the villain Col. Miles Quaritch in the film “Avatar.”
Boritt grew up on a Civil War farm adjoining the Gettysburg battlefield, which was a stop on the Underground Railroad and served as a Confederate hospital during the battle. His father, Gabor Boritt, is a Lincoln and Civil War scholar who was the founder and first director of the Civil War Institute at Gettysburg College.
