Associated Press features First Year Walk

The Associated Press featured the First Year Walk on Aug. 19. Their coverage appeared in regional outlets across the country, including the Philadelphia Inquirer and San Francisco Chronicle.

Gettysburg College will mark the start of the school year with a traditional walk from campus to the cemetery where President Abraham Lincoln delivered his Gettysburg Address.

The school said Monday that Susan Eisenhower, whose presidential grandfather had a farm in Gettysburg, will read the famous speech.

At the event on Thursday, the school's faculty, staff and students, along with local residents, will escort 709 incoming freshmen to Gettysburg National Cemetery.
