Alum John Stonesifer mentioned his studies at the College in a July 1 Patriot-News article recalling the 75th anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.
From the Patriot-News:
“It’s quite emotional thinking back,” he said. “The Civil War always takes on more significance when you think of the great suffering. It was a sad, dramatic time in the United States.”
His interest in the battle grew when he studied the battle at Gettysburg College, and it continues to grow each time he visits Gettysburg every four to five years.
To celebrate the 150th anniversary, Stonesifer plans to hire a tour guide and visit the area of Pickett’s Charge and Little Round Top because he says there’s always more to learn.
“I always come up with new questions for the guide and things I hadn’t thought about before,” Stonesifer said. “It’s always very educational.”
