Lecture on environmental aspects of Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory to take place at Gettysburg College

GETTYSBURG, Pa. - Gettysburg College's global studies program will sponsor a lecture on environmental aspects of Israeli's occupation of Palestinian territory on Feb. 26 at 7:30 p.m. in Mara Auditorium, Masters Hall.

Aber Safar, research assistant for the Applied Research Institute Jerusalem (ARIJ), will present the program, "Environmental Degradation and the Israeli-Palestine Conflict." It will explore the impact of the Israel occupation on water and waste disposal in Palestinian territory. This lecture is part of Gettysburg College's 20th Annual Area Studies Symposium "Nature, War and Peace." The lecture is open to the public at no charge.

Founded in 1990, the ARIJ is a non-profit organization in Bethlehem, Palestine dedicated to promoting development in the occupied Palestinian territories and the self-reliance of the Palestinian people through greater control over their natural resources.

Gettysburg College is a highly selective four-year residential college of liberal arts and sciences. With approximately 2,500 students, it is located on a 200-acre campus adjacent to Gettysburg National Military Park. The college was founded in 1832.
