Photo of the Day

July 18, 2012

Gettysburg College is a stop on the Roads to Freedom summer program! Roads to Freedom encourages children and parents to get outdoors and be physically active by engaging in letterboxing, a hobby in which participants must follow written clues to locate hidden items. Civil War artifacts were etched onto plexiglass plates, attached to 15 wooden posts, and hidden in locations throughout Adams County. Using the program's booklet as a guide, participants locate each artifact and rub the picture onto a special page within the booklet. A grand prize will be given away at the end of the program. Booklets are available for pickup at all public libraries in Adams County (Pa.).
