Larry DelViscio '13 earns Academic All-America honors in football

Junior linebacker Larry DelViscio of the Gettysburg College football team has been named to the 2011 Capital One Academic All-America Division III Football Team, as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), it was announced Tuesday.

DelViscio, who earned second-team recognition, becomes the 17th Academic All-American in school history. An economics major with a 3.60 grade-point average, he is the fourth Gettysburg football player to capture the honor and the first since Cliff Mason '03 collected first-team recognition in 2002.

To be eligible for Academic All-America consideration, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.
