Nathalie Lebon

Assistant Professor of Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies

Lebon has published research and done fieldwork in Portuguese on economic development, social movements, and nongovernmental organizations in Brazil. She teaches feminism in global perspective and gender and change in Africa and Afro-Latin America.

Recent Work:

Lebon is co-editor of From Private to Public: 30 Years of Citizens' Struggles by Women in Latin America (2006) and Women's Activism in Latin America and the Caribbean: Engendering Social Justice, Democratizing Citizenship (2010). Her research focuses on the consolidation of popular and black feminisms in Brazil and the role played by professionalization and institutionalization in this process.
