Jennifer Powell

Assistant Professor of Biology

Powell earned a bachelor's degree in mathematics and biology from Hendrix College and a Ph.D. in molecular cell biology in the division of genetics and development at the University of California at Berkeley. She was a National Institute of Health Ruth L. Kirschstein postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital.

Recent Work:

Powell researches the molecular mechanisms of infection recognition and response by the innate immune system using Caenorhabditis elegans as a model host. In particular, she and other colleagues published a paper in February of 2009, The G protein-coupled receptor FSHR-1 is required for the Caenorhabditis elegans innate immune response.
