Timothy Funk

Assistant Professor of Chemistry

Funk earned a bachelor's degree while majoring in chemistry from Gettysburg College and a doctorate in chemistry from the California Institute of Technology (CalTech). He has also worked as a medicinal chemist in the pharmaceutical industry.

Recent Work:

Funk received a $35,000 Cottrell College Science Award from the Research Corporation for Scientific Advancement. The two-year grant, "Transition Metal-Catalyzed Oxidations of Organic Molecules," provides funds for research supplies, materials and student stipends. He is also reasearching ways to make temporary dental cements more reliable.
