Larson received a bachelor's from William Paterson College, a master's from Boston College, and a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia. A specialist in American political parties and elections, he has authored and co-authored articles in the Journal of Politics, Legislative Studies Quarterly, and Political Research Quarterly.
