The books are not mandatory but are a list of recommended readings that pertain to the 2009 CWI themes, "The Assassination" and "The Life of Mary Todd Lincoln." President Bush Receives Gettysburg Battlefield Tour

New England Premiere of "Budapest to Gettysburg"
Budapest to Gettysburg will have its New England Premiere on Sunday, November 16 at 12:50 p.m. The film will be shown at the Museum of Fine Arts as part of the closing day of the 20th Annual Boston Jewish Film Festival. The screening is followed by a Q & A session with Gabor Boritt, Judith Borit and Jake Boritt. To purchase tickets or to see a short preview visit Boritt Films.
Join the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania

The Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania was founded in 1938: "To observe as Americans each anniversary of the birth of Abraham Lincoln; to fittingly commemorate the anniversary of the dedication of the Soldier's National Cemetery and the Gettysburg Address he delivered there; to preserve and make more readily accessible the landmarks associated with his life or ancestry within Pennsylvania; and to actively encourage the youth of our Commonwealth to embrace his ideals." First National Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission Town Hall Meeting

On November 20, 2008 the National Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission presented their first of ten Town Hall Meetings. The theme was on "Lincoln's Legacy: Equality, Opportunity, and Race." Jesse Jackson Jr., Jack Kemp, Allen Guelzo, Susan Eisenhower, and Norman Bristol-Colón were the panelists at this town hall meeting. The moderator was Charles R. Branham, Senior Historian, DuSable Museum of African American History, Chicago. It began at 7:00 pm. at the College Union Ballroom, Gettysburg College to a group of over 325 enthusiastic attendees. This event was hosted by the Civil War Institute and the Pennsylvania Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial Commission at Gettysburg College and is free and open to the public.

Come sign a panel to celebrate Lincoln's birthday. Lincoln Artist Wendy Allen will create a portrait of Abe on-site at the Capitol as part of the Lincoln Birthday Card Project. Panels will be available for the public to sign on February 11th at Lincoln Day in Harrisburg: For the People, and at the Historic Gettysburg Train Station on February 12th-16th. The panels will be sent to the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, DC for the Re-dedication Series: A Retrospective on May 30, 2009. Lincoln's favorite cake will be served; come celebrate the birthday of America's 16th President!
