It is with great pleasure that the Enrollment and Educational Services team welcomes the Class of 2011 to Gettysburg College. This new group of incoming students is comprised of 695 (308 men, 387 women) first year students; in addition, 17 (10 men, 7 women) new transfer students have enrolled for the fall term. This new class is the result of the largest applicant pool in recent College history. This is an outstanding group of young people who will certainly add to the fabric of the Gettysburg Community
Applicant Pool and Admit Rate
- This new class was selected from 6126 applications - the largest applicant pool in the College's history-15% ahead of last years number.
- The admit rate was 35.6%-5.5% lower than last year's record selectivity rate.
- The overall yield rate is 31.9% compared to 33.4% in 2006 and 31.9% in 2005.
- Three hundred and six students enrolled under the early decision program.
Academic Quality
- One hundred and ten Presidential Scholars and 92 dean's scholars comprise the Class of 2011.
- Six Sunderman Scholars and four Wagnild Scholars.
- Sixty-six percent of the students have a class rank in the top 10% and 89% are in the top 25% of the high school graduating class.
- The mean SAT is 1295
Class Personality
- Geographically students come from 32 states and 18 foreign countries.
- Legacies (sibling, parents,)-7% of the class.
- Students of color-10% of the class
- Extracurricular interests remain varied and diverse
- Community Service participation while in high school-86%
- Fine and performing arts participation in high school-51%
- Athletic participation while in high school-79%
