The First-Year Team is comprised of upper-class students hired by the Office of Residential & First-Year Programs. Each building floor will have a team of upper-class students, one Resident Assistant (RA) and one Orientation Leader (OL), to guide them through the Orientation process. RAs are upper-class students who have been carefully selected and trained to work in the halls to help residents manage and create a healthy and constructive place to live. RAs live and work in the halls for the entire academic year. OLs are trained during the summer before your arrival and work during the five days of orientation in August.

RAs and OLs are placed in pairs in order to provide you with connections to current students who are experts in student life at Gettysburg - choosing courses, how to get involved on campus, how to find support networks, and how to map out your four-year experience and more. A team of an RA and an OL will work together with a specific orientation group, comprised of about 20 students from the same floor. Once your housing assignment is available in August, check back to meet your building staff!
