Participate in the 26th annual Gettysburg is Volunteering (GIV) Day. GIV Day is the first opportunity for you to engage in the local community. Participants will learn about social justice issues while connecting with classmates, upperclass students, and members of the Gettysburg community. In order to participate, students had to indicate interest on myFirstYear Dashboard and attendance will be confirmed via email.

G-Tech, technical support for Gettysburg College students, will be available to address any technology and television related questions and concerns.

This is an opportunity for students to relax and interact with some upperclassmen while other students are participating in GIV Day. Representatives from various grade levels and backgrounds will be present in the Junction to mingle with the Class of 2020 and make connections with the first-year students while chatting about their involvement on campus. The Jaeger Center will be open: students can complete their fitness center orientation (required in order to use the gym), and the pool and climbing/bouldering walls will be open.

Student Employment Information Session Masters 110 (Mara Auditorium)

Many students work on campus through a work-study, research, or an office job. Come find out what you need to do to get started!

 

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. First-Year Seminar Receptions, Various Locations by residence hall

This is an opportunity for faculty, administrators and students participating in First-Year Seminars to meet one another informally to begin conversations about the seminar experience at Gettysburg.  Everyone will gather in a common location by residence hall (common room or designated space outside the building) and then break off into seminar groups, which will be led by the faculty member and administrative partner.

 

2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Library Orientation for Transfer Students, Library

Transfer students will have their orientation to Musselman Library at this time. This session is for new upperclass (sophomores-seniors) students only.  First-year students will complete their library orientation during the first week of classes.

Living in Our Community Series

Various Locations- First-Year Staff to provide specific location for specific program

The first session begins at 3:00 p.m. Friday, August 26.

These discussions will focus on important aspects of becoming a successful member of the Gettysburg College community. Teams of faculty, administrators, and students will lead these discussions. Your First-Year Team will have detailed information about time and location for your Orientation group.  Orientation groups rotate during the three-hour time period

A chance for those students who are part of the RISE program to get together and meet one another.
