Tips for Parents and Families

1. Set up a predetermined location to meet your graduate after the ceremony.
2. Wear sunscreen.
3. Bring binoculars.
4. Wear sensible shoes. High heels may sink into the grass.
5. Bring an umbrella.
6. Wear a hat.
7. Wear layers. It could get hot; it could cool down very quickly.
8. Give yourself a full hour to find a seat and get settled. It's exciting to watch the preparations . . . 9. The seating for Commencement is on flat ground. Please don't expect to get great photographs. Two photographers will capture the awarding of your student's diploma from different angles. We encourage you to sit back and enjoy the moment!
10. Commencement will be moved indoors only if weather conditions are deemed dangerous. If it's raining, it still will go on outside.
11. Restrooms are available in the academic buildings, including the library.
12. Water will be available, but we recommend that you bring your own as well.
