Restaurant Reviews
Appalachian Brewing Company
401 Buford Avenue
(717) 334-2200
Fairly close to the College. Has a relaxed atmosphere with similar kinds of food to Ruby Tuesday. ABC had a particular appeal for my husband, who used to be a home brewer and appreciates the craft of modern microbreweries, especially if they make beers like those in his English homeland.
The Blue Parrot Bistro
35 Chambersburg Street
(717) 337-3739
The kids seem to love this place. It has a real buzz.

There were 12 people in our dinner party at the Blue Parrot Bistro on 8/25/07. Each person had a different meal and everyone said their meal was REALLY great. Mine was delicious.
The Dobbin House Tavern
89 Steinwehr Avenue
(717) 334-2100
This is a beautiful, historical place which provides ambiance as well as good food.

We enjoyed the atmosphere of the Dobbin House Tavern. It was far too dark inside and rather cramped, but we have gone there several times anyway.
La Bella Italia
402 York Street
(717) 334-1978
La Bella Italia on corner of Fourth and York is very nice.
The Lincoln Diner
32 Carlisle Street
(717) 334-3900
This is a fabulous place to meet your student for breakfast.
Mamma Ventura's
13 Chambersburg Street
(717) 334-5548
Mamma Ventura's is good.
McClellan's Tavern (inside the Gettysburg Hotel)
One Lincoln Square
(717) 338-5455
We always stay at the Best Western Gettysburg Hotel right on the Square. The location is so convenient - walk to campus and lots of restaurants. Breakfast buffet is very good and a good value. McClennan's Tavern is good for lunch.
Montezuma Restaurant
225 Buford Avenue
(717) 334-7750
Montezuma's is good and a good value. Try the fajita that comes in half a pineapple.
Ping's
34 Baltimore Street
(717) 334-2234
I like the family atmosphere. Very good food, too--every person in our group enjoyed his or her meal. Reasonably priced.

Ping's for Chinese is good.

I have been to Gettysburg three times now, and I thought the most delicious food I've eaten yet was at Pings (combination Chinese/Japanese food).
The Pub and Restaurant
21 Lincoln Square
(717) 334-7100
I love the Pub, especially the homemade soups. The atmosphere is terrific.

This place is lots of fun and has a great menu.

Our first restaurant experience in Gettysburg was The Pub, which was a lot of fun and the food was quite good.
***
I most recently came to visit my son on Sept 23, 2007. As usual, we went to The Pub for lunch. It was awful. We have gone several times over the past year. The first time it was great. The food was good, the service was terrific. The next time it wasn't quite as good, but still good. The following time it was even less enjoyable. This last time (don't ask why we keep going back . . . I guess we are still trying to recapture that first experience!) the service was horrible. After being seated, we waited almost an hour for our food. And then that was mediocre at best. It was 3:00 in the afternoon. Our waitress was downright rude. We will not attempt to go there again. Looking forward to trying other area restaurants instead!!

The Pub is great but the lines are too long on Saturday nights
Ruby Tuesday
25 Letterman Drive
(717) 334-6127
Last weekend, we found Ruby Tuesday was one of the few places open; it was okay but a little out of the way. We prefer places that are closer to the College, or at least have some "character" since our visits usually are connected to some kind of special occasion.

I love the salad bar at Ruby Tuesday's. Very fresh and tasty
