Eisenhower Insitutute Interview in Little Rock
On September 25, 1957, President Dwight D. Eisenhower sent troops from the United States Army's 101st Airborne Division to Little Rock, Ark., to enforce court-ordered desegregation of the city's Central High School. Susan Eisenhower, granddaughter of the president and chairman of the Eisenhower Institute at Gettysburg College, traveled to Little Rock to attend commemorative ceremonies honoring the 50th anniversary of this crucial event in the history of the Civil Rights Movement.
