Undergraduate Research at Gettysburg: Learn What's Possible

Craig Borger and Jon Giordano are doing the kind of independent research that-while standard for a Gettysburg senior's capstone experience-is more characteristic of a graduate-school program. But here, a committed faculty and cutting-edge resources combine for an experience that enhances the learning process in extraordinary ways.

For Craig and Jon, this means real experiments on real subjects, looking at the relationship between blood pressure and pain while manipulating both. Their mentor, Dr. Dan Drury, co-chair of the Department of Health Sciences, guides them closely.

"At Gettysburg we offer a rare level of personal attention, the ability to pursue new and timely knowledge and a chance to be published," says Dr. Drury. "This is a model unique for undergraduates. It's normally something doctoral students enjoy."
