Historian Doris Kearns Goodwin spoke about her widely acclaimed biography of President Abraham Lincoln and his cabinet, "Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln," at an award ceremony April 6 in New York. Goodwin received $50,000 and a bronze replica of Augustus Saint-Gaudens' life-size bust, "Lincoln the Man." The Lincoln Prize, which is endowed by philanthropists Richard Gilder and Lewis Lehrman and administered by Gettysburg College, is the nation's most generous award in the field of American history.
