President Will interviewed on Washington Post radio about 'Big Brother on Campus' op-ed

President Katherine Haley Will was interviewed live on the Lunch and Later with Sam Litzinger show on Washington Post Radio July 25, 2006 about an op-ed piece she wrote that appeared in July 23's Washington Post. Titled "Big Brother on Campus," the op-ed took aim at the Secretary of Education's Commission on the Future of Higher Education draft reports that call for a tracking system, requiring all colleges and universities to supply the government with personal information on all enrolled students.

"What the government is seeking is individual information," Will said. "The plan is to link to social security numbers and they want colleges to turn over every bit of the record data we have on each individual... that includes their financial aid application, family financial statement...which is currently against the law under FERPA (Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act)."
