Former New Jersey Governor Christine Todd Whitman spoke at Gettysburg College Sept. 22 on "Women, Power & Politics: The View From Just Under the Glass Ceiling" as part of the Eisenhower Institute Fall 2008 Speaker Series.
Whitman became the first woman governor of New Jersey, serving from 1994 to 2001. In 2001, Whitman was appointed to the Environmental Protection Agency by President George W. Bush. After Whitman resigned her post in 2003, she authored the book, It's My Party Too: The Battle for the Heart of the GOP and the Future of America, and formed a political action committe. She currently serves as co-chair of the Republican Leadership Council.
