Audition Requirements for Singers
Requirements for all applicants
(see below for requirements for specific degree programs).
- Complete a brief written test of basic music theory skills.
- Demonstrate aural skills by vocally matching pitches, singing simple intervals, identifying major and minor chords, and sight singing a simple song.
- Send copies of the piano parts for your pieces three weeks prior to the audition date. The Conservatory will provide an accompanist for all vocal auditions.
Bachelor of Music in Performance
- Faculty will vocalize the singer to explore range and technical ability.
- Perform three songs of contrasting styles from the art song repertoire.
- At least one song should be in German, French, or Italian. One song should be in English.
- Memorization is required.
Bachelor of Arts in Music, Bachelor of Science in Music Education and Music Minor
- Faculty will vocalize the singer to explore range and technical ability.
- Perform two or three songs of contrasting styles from the art song repertoire.
- One song should be in German, French, or Italian. One song should be in English.
- Memorization is required.
