Federal Work-Study Program The Federal Work-Study Program provides meaningful employment on campus and in the community so that students might earn monies to help in the payment of college costs. Students who demonstrate financial need through the FAFSA analysis may be awarded Federal Work-Study as part of their financial aid package.
Students eligible to participate in the Federal Work-Study Program must stop by the Office of Financail Aid when they arrive in the Fall to pick up an Authorization Form. The Office of Financial Aid will not place students directly in a job. Students will be referred to supervisors who have positions available. Each semester the After a student has been hired into a position, the Work-Study Authorization Form must be completed. The student and supervisor should fill out the form and return it to the Office of Financial Aid, Campus Box 438. |
If a student has never worked on campus before, he/she MUST complete paperwork at the Human Resources Office on the First Floor of Penn Hall within three days of the first day of employment. If the necessary paperwork is not completed, the student is not authorized to work on campus and cannot be paid.
Other Campus Employment Students seeking non work-study employment should visit the Center for Career Development's job listing website for a list of available positions on-campus.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I record my hours for payroll purposes?
All offices and departments use electronic time sheets. Note: A paper time sheet will be necessary for the first pay period since the electronic time sheet will not be available until the first day of the following pay period.
It is important that the time sheet be filled out completely. In and out times must include AM or PM. The supervisor must sign/lock the time sheet before it can be processed. Late time sheets will be paid in the next pay period. Late processing may increase the amount of federal taxes that will be withheld.
How often are students paid and what are the deadlines for submitting time sheets?
Students are paid on a biweekly basis. There is a two-week lag between the end of the pay period and payday. Time sheets need to be submitted according to the dates on the pay schedule.
What methods of payment are available for students?
Students can choose to be paid by direct deposit or check. Both options will provide a record of earnings and taxes withheld. The deposit record also shows information regarding the account where the funds were deposited. Checks and deposit records will be mailed to campus boxes and will be available on payday. To sign up for direct deposit students must complete the Student Direct Deposit form. These forms can be obtained from the forms rack on the first floor of Penn Hall or in the Payroll Office.
Am I required to accept the Work-Study award?
Students who do not wish to work may decline the Work-Study award. If additional funds are needed, students can apply for loans to replace the Work-Study award.
