Upon the death of her husband in 1944, Emma Musselman became a vice president of the company. At that time, John A. Hauser (1908-1983) assumed leadership as its second president and served in that capacity until 1972.

A trustee and friend of Gettysburg College, John Hauser led the company in its expansion of farmlands covering six thousand acres and guided a merger with Pet Milk Company in 1961. later the Musselman Company would bcome a division of Knouse Foods Co-Operative Inc.
