This 1928 aerial photograph by Harrisburg photographer Samuel W. Kuhnert shows the recently completed 'new' buildings: Eddie Plank Gymnasium and Bridenbaugh Hall. Linnaean Hall is seen to the right of Pennsylvania Hall; on the North side of Pennsylvania Hall is a rare view of the old woodsheds and wash house (which by this date had been converted to a residence for the college janitor). The old house was removed soon after this image was made. CREDIT: Pennsylvania State Archives: MG-281, Kuhnert Collection. (Image #7469)
The Gettysburgian of March 14, 1929 announced that several projects would serve to beautify the campus. These improvements included a 'lagoon' created by damming the Tiber, stone bridges connecting the two sides of the stream, and the creation of formal gardens along Stevens and Washington Street. Image #7477 is by Hollander Feldman; other photographers unknown. Ca 1930.
