March 4

After a long Sunday in the snow, on Monday we woke to negative 4 degrees.

At 6:15 a.m., you could hear the first stoves firing up for morning hot drinks and breakfast. Not a cloud in the sky.

The group rallied around a new plan to head down North Eddy Creek Road to the Wagon Loop Trail. The group covered six miles today and are camped at the Browns Creek Spur Road. The group will rejoin the Colorado Trail near Sand Creek. The roads are closed during the winter. However, cross-country skiers and snowmobilers have packed down some of the trails. The group decided to take advantage of the semi-packed route versus breaking new trail in waist-high snow.

Dialogue of the day:

Stacey Seiler '09: "I'm afraid I'm going to fall."

Chuck Steiner '08: "Why are you afraid? You fall. You're a faller. That's what you do. Why be scared?"

Stacey: "Yeah, you're right."

Later in the day:

Chuck: "Stacey, did you fall today?"

Stacey: "Yes I did, eleven times. And I got up on my own every time."
