In a Gettysburg College tradition, volunteers from across campus helped families move in first-year residences.
Gettysburg College President Janet Morgan Riggs '77 visited with families as they arrived on campus. From left, in Hanson Hall, are Jill Miller, Riggs, Bill Miller, new student Grace Miller, and her sister Carly Miller. The Millers hail from Andover, N.J.
Volunteers in orange shirts were constantly in motion between families' vehicles and first-year residences, in this case Stine Hall.
Volunteers moved everything that families could fit into their vehicles. At left, outside Paul Hall is Dawn Buchal of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., who brought her daughter Shannon to campus.
Friends since they were three years old, Brendan Trelease and Dominick Murphy, both of Union, N.J., are now roommates in Hanson Hall. Brendan and his mother Kathleen Trelease are at left; Dominick and his mother Antoinette Murphy are at right.
As soon as vehicles stopped, volunteers approached and offered to lend a hand.
Jerry Royals '52 has volunteered for about 10 years.
Volunteers not only carried things, but helped with the paperwork. At work in Hanson Hall were new student Kelsey Welsh of Manchester Center, Vt. (left) and volunteer Olivia Ireland, a psychology major from Exeter, N.H.
